Compressed Charcoal and other stuff.

Recently I have discovered the delights of drawing with compressed charcoal, I find it a very quick medium to draw with as you have to be quite bold with it. Here are a few of my experiments with that I have done recently.

After the quick idea and straight into drawing I fix them with not with an expensive fixative but with the cheapest hairspray available, any large supermarket has this inexpensive product normally quite a bit less than a pound in price. As a non rich artist some savings are really helpful.

Today consisted of a bit of marketing for the workshop, then onto our regular clay class at The Barnoon Workshop www.barnoonworkshop.co.uk I produced a few tiles in stoneware and then experimented with add half dried slip made into small balls to compress into the clay. I was quite pleased with the result.
I then stayed at the workshop for lunch and then a big team meeting, which turned into a very productive nine person session with lots of ideas about getting more marketing, crowd funding and what other courses and workshops we could offer in the future.
A little later I then went and delivered another guitar lesson. My drawing time will be a bit later on tonight.
I was also given a cd by Ali Steele who had attended our clay session this morning. I haven't had the chance to listen yet but is entitled 'Postcards From Home - The Intention Craft' I look forward to it.
